Where do you go when in Europe? Here’s our must-see list of places to visit and things to see.
London
This may not be the most exotic of places at first sight, but in fact it is one of the most magnificent, historical and amazing cities in the world. From the stunning history of the Tower of London, through the beautiful and iconic Buckingham Palace, right up to the incredible achievement of engineering that is The Shard, London is a place of wonder. Indeed, the Shard needs to be seen to be believed, as it is a truly innovative and unique building. Some of the world’s most impressive and important museums and galleries are here, and all within easy reach thanks to the efficient Tube system, and you can view more Old Masters and important paintings in London than anywhere else in the world.
Scandinavia
Often overlooked when it comes to holiday destinations, the Scandinavian countries are in fact among the most beautiful and fascinating of all. Norway, Sweden and Finland differ so much from the rest of Europe that they could almost be their own separate continent. Witness the amazing Northern Lights from within the Arctic Circle, visit the gloriously beautiful cities of Oslo, Stockholm and Finland, cruise the amazing Norwegian Fjords, and take in a life that is far removed from the rest of the continent. And don’t forget sample the food – it’s a new world of cuisine out there!
Central Europe
One of the most interesting aspects of Europe is that, in recent years, many of the counter that were once out of bounds have now become prime holiday destinations. Countries that were once behind the Iron Curtain, such as Hungary, are now easily accessible and also very beautiful, while the likes of Romania, previously kept down by a ruling dictator, have plenty to offer. The once war-torn countries of Bosnia and Serbia offer much to the visitor, Croatia likewise, and many of the countries that were once part of Czechoslovakia are also very welcoming. It’s a fascinating vision of how the continent has developed in the latter part of the 20th century, and one well worth exploring for glorious scenery and a warm welcome.
The Mediterranean
You can’t visit Europe without seeing the glorious Mediterranean. This wonderful sea, separating the continents of Europe and Africa, is a rich bed of history, and you will enjoy some of the most wonderful cuisine from anywhere in the world.
Europe is a place that is not always at the top of the list when it comes to holiday destinations, but it really should be as there is so much to see and do. Check out what is on offer, and enjoy a trip to this most glorious and diverse of continents.
